Batman Beyond and 5 other movies we’d like to see in the DCEU

Either a Batgirl or Batwoman big screen adaptation would make us happy.

In Batgirl’s case, the only time we saw Barbara Gordon on the big screen was with Batman and Robin, where die hard fans were not particularly fond of Alicia Silverstone’s portrayal of the character (though in all fairness she could only do so much with that material). It is odd to think that in nearly 25 years, no one has tried to do Barbara justice in theatrical form.

With news that the DCEU will be bringing a show about the Gotham City Police Department to HBO Max that will potentially star Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon, it seems inevitable that we’ll be seeing Barbara back onscreen sooner rather than later. The smart option would be to introduce her into the show, and slowly build towards her getting her own solo superhero journey, ideally in movie form.

Meanwhile, the fast success of The CW’s Batwoman suggests that this success could translate well into a theatrical version. Thousands upon thousands tuned in consistently throughout the first season and just as many – if not more – sat on the edge of their seats waiting for news on a replacement for Ruby Rose. I’m positive that just as many (and more) would buy a ticket to a live-action movie adaptation.
