According to a new rumor, it seems like Jason Todd could end up becoming Red Hood in Titans season 3.

As revealed by Full Circle, a new rumor stemming from the Titans Facebook group has suggested that the Red Hood will make an appearance in the third season of the DC Universe series. To be clear: This is a rumor and will be classed as such until further verified.

Curran Walters has played the role of Jason Todd on Titans from halfway through the first season. The young and brash Robin II started out as a recurring character before Walters was promoted to a series regular position during the sophomore season of DC Universe’s flagship show.

The end of last season left the door open for Curran’s Robin to embark on his own journey, following his traumatic experience with Deathstroke.

In the comics, Jason is an infamous reminder of one of Batman’s greatest failures as the wayward young man was killed by the Joker – something that has always haunted the Dark Knight. Red Hood is, of course, the alias Jason used once he was resurrected much later down the line.

While it is established that the Crown Prince of Crime is in fact in this world’s continuity, it is not exactly certain how the creative group will carry out Jason’s evolution into Red Hood (if that is indeed where the story might go). The birth of the Red Hood persona would certainly make for a great slow-burn narrative and, if they do opt for that route, he could ultimately complete his transformation in a possible Season 4.

While filming of Titans is not yet underway, there were potential rumors of a spin-off show being in development. Could Red Hood make his presence felt there instead? Nevertheless, let’s just hope Curran does gain a chance to don the red mask and the inverted bat symbol at some point.

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Alan Ritchson, Minka Kelly, Ryan Potter, Curran Walters and Conor Leslie. Geoff Johns, Akiva Goldsman and Greg Berlanti write the series. Johns, Goldsman, Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Greg Walker and John Fawcett are executive producers. Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions produce the series, in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Titans seasons 1 and 2 is on DC Universe in the U.S. and Netflix internationally. Titans season 3 will hopefully premiere during the fall of 2020, but that is not yet certain.
