Stargirl’s penultimate episode could spell doom for Courtney’s mother, Barbara Whitmore, as the Injustice Society comes calling…

Stargirl‘s debut season is almost at its end as its penultimate episode, “Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. Part One” airs on DC Universe and The CW this week.

All season long, Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) has been trying her best to live up to the legacy of the man that she thought was her father: Starman (Joel McHale). Unfortunately, Stargirl realized in this week’s installment that her father was actually just the crooked Sam Kurtis (Geoff Stults) who left her and her mother when she was a baby.

In spite of the emotional setback, Courtney soon realized that the Cosmic Staff chose her for a reason. With that, she found it within herself to accept her responsibility as Stargirl – with the help of her mother Barbara (Amy Smart) and stepfather Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson).

It’s a good thing that she decided to stay and fight because Jordan Mahkent/Icicle (Neil Jackson) discovered the truth about Courtney’s identity and, after some deliberation, agreed to allow Henry King Sr./Brainwave (Christopher James Baker) kill her and her entire family.

Now, it looks like Courtney’s family is in deep trouble.

What will happen in Stargirl season 1, episode 12?

As the trailer highlighted, the Injustice Society will come for Courtney and her family. As for how that will happen? It appears that Paula Brooks/Tigress (Joy Osmanski) will show up at the Whitmore household and specifically target Stargirl’s mother, Barbara.

Courtney does manage to swoop in and defend her family from the ISA villain, but without the help of her team, can she go toe-to-toe with Tigress? Can she rescue her mother – and potentially Mike (Trae Romano) – from the ISA’s wrath?

And what of the masterful combatant’s husband and partner-in-crime Larry “Crusher” Crock/Sportsmaster? Well, he will unleash all of that anger on Pat (he’s probably upset that he never maintained the strict diet Larry forced upon him).

Can the rest of the Justice Society of America – Yolanda Montez/Wildcat (Yvette Monreal), Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite (Anjelika Washington) and Rick Tyler/Hourman (Cameron Gellman) – and their new friend Janitor Justin/Shining Knight (Mark Ashworth) save Stargirl and Stripesy’s family from the Injustice Society? Or is there a specific reason that this is only part one?

Is a jaw-dropping cliffhanger coming?
