X-Men to return in shock revival of classic ’90s animated series?
It looks like there’s a real chance we could see a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series…
When it comes to the greatest animated TV shows of all time, there are a number of names on that list including Batman: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series and The Simpsons. Among them would also be X-Men: The Animated Series.
Considered by many to be one of the greatest superhero shows of all time, X-Men received critical acclaim during its time on screens in the 1990s. It also amassed a large fanbase, with many fans still seeing it as the definitive version of Marvel‘s iconic Mutants.
Are we going to see an X-Men revival?
It goes without saying that fans would love to see a revival of the show, and since Disney’s acquisition of Fox, there have been rumors that it actually might happen. It would seem that those rumors would be true as series producer Larry Huston recently appeared on Wizard World podcast (H/T: MCU Cosmic) and confirmed that there had been talks. He revealed:
"“We’ve had talks, but that’s about it. We’ve made conversation and it’s up to them to make the decision, but we’ve let them know that we’re all available for whatever they want to do in the future.”"
All episodes of the series are currently on Disney Plus and, as MCU Cosmic highlights, it’s supposedly one of the service’s most popular shows. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be too surprising if they do decide to revive it for another season.
X-Men ran for five seasons between October 1992 and September 1997. Like other superhero shows of the ’90s, it received praise for its strong writing, mature character development and fearlessness when it came to heavy-hitting and realistic storylines. It also featured a crossover with the aforementioned Spider-Man series as they were both set in the same universe.
