Harleen

This is probably the least legacy-related book on this list, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t read it because you absolutely should. It’s absolutely fantastic. In a few years, this series will more than likely become one of the definitive origins for Harley Quinn, if not the definitive origin story for her. This book takes her original origin from “Mad Love” and expands on it greatly in all the best ways.

Coming from writer/artist Stjepan Sejic, Harleen is 180 pages of a pure, unadulterated psychological and philosophical dive into the mind of Harleen Quinzel before she becomes Harley Quinn. As someone who isn’t a huge fan of the character, there was no reason to get as engrossed into this as I did and yet, every page was enthralling. It’s absolutely worth a read even if you aren’t a Harley Quinn fan. But if you are a fan of the character and for some reason haven’t read this series yet, read it immediately.

Beyond these five recommendations though, there are literally (and this is not hyperbole) thousands of issues of Batman comics and even more issues of comics from the rest of the Bat-family.
