The Flash just made a shocking return in an unexpected turn of events
Thanks to an unexpected betrayal, Barry Allen was able to return in the latest installment of The Flash.
The rivalry between The Flash and the Reverse-Flash is so well-documented that it is considered one of the greatest comic book feuds of all time. It’s an ongoing one and the villainous man in yellow has continued to stoop to hideous new lows over the years to destroy the Scarlet Speedster.
Having created his very own Reverse-Flash Family – unaffectionately known as the “Legion of Zoom” – Eobard Thawne has pulled out all the stops in his latest quest to beat Barry Allen in the comics. And, most recently, he enacted a new phase of that plan which saw him find a way to take over the hero’s body, becoming the man he so desperately wanted to be.
In the latest installment, The Flash #760, Reverse-Flash and the Legion of Zoom attempted to prevent Barry from ever returning. Unfortunately for him, one of the members made an unexpectedly heroic choice by contacting The Flash family – which consists of the likes of Jay Garrick, Kid-Flash and Impulse. That betrayal came from the teenager version of the Trickster, Axel Walker.

Due to the unanticipated arrival of the speedster family, Thawne’s plan was instantly sidetracked and that was all it took for Barry to force up enough strength to propel himself out of the Speed Force he was trapped in and reclaim control of his own body – but not before an irate Reverse-Flash sent the Trickster back to where he came from.
The battles lines have been drawn and now the epic rematch has been set as The Flash will once again face off against his archenemy. The question is: Who will walk (or run) away the victor this time?
