Batman: Zero Year- Dark City

Next to The Joker, The Riddler may be Batman’s most annoying villain. Not only is he dangerous, but his plans are over the top. “Riddle me this, Dark Knight, or I’ll send a hospital into space!” Every time Batman solves his riddles, Edward Nygma gets more elaborate the next time around.

There was one time in particular, however, where Riddler actually won. He turned Gotham into a world similar to the apocalypse. No one had power and the government couldn’t come in to help. Where was Batman? He was defeated. In his defense, this was the first time they battled. In the end, Batman did what he always does. He outsmarts The Riddler.

This was one of Batman’s first cases. He was still finding himself. This was before Alfred truly trusted Bruce to be a vigilante. Seeing this in action in an animated film would give people a new perspective on Batman. He wasn’t always the hero who had a plan for everything. He made a lot of mistakes along the way and this was a big one. A lot of lives were lost because of his mistakes.

This story highlights all the mistakes he made and how he learned to be better. We all love that Batman is the answer to everything. While there is truth in this jest, he had to start somewhere.
