Project Power filmmakers Ariel Shulman and Henry Joost have been attached to direct an adaptation of Nemesis by Mark Millar for Warner Bros. Pictures.

If you haven’t seen Project Power, then you’re missing out on a real joy ride. Now, the directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, who were in charge of the New Orleans based superhero film, have signed on to spearhead a live-action film adaptation of Nemesis – the four-issue comic book limited series by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.

Stuck in development hell for over a decade, the rights to Millar and McNiven’s Nemesis were optioned by 20th Century Studios (20th Century FOX at the time) with the late Tony Scott through Scott Free Productions initially tapped to direct.

It was floating in development as Narc and The Grey director Joe Carnahan was penning the script after being announced as director back in 2012 following Scott’s passing. Millar had given praise to Joe and his younger brother Matthew Carnahan’s contributions to the screenplay.

Since 2015, the rights transferred to Warner Bros. and several adaptations of Millar’s work such as Kick-Ass, The Kingsman, Jupiter’s Legacy and Prodigy have been developed into motion picture films or series respectively. Millar himself is currently with Netflix and thus can’t be involved with Nemesis.

It appears from the report that Schulman and Joost’s take on the Nemesis is tamer in comparison to the comic series, which is not surprising, as most creations by Millar are hardcore. After all, the all-white masked vigilante whom the film is based on is a sadist and hedonistic supervillain from an aristocrat family.
