The Flash producer reveals that the film will reboot the DC Extended Universe
The Flash producer Barbara Muschietti has confirmed the one thing we’ve all been wondering about the DCEU film.
Andy Muschietti’s The Flash has been enjoying a lot of momentum as of late in the news headlines since confirming that both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck (as their respective incarnations of Batman) are set to appear on the big screen. However, during the second day of DC FanDome there was another key announcement that nearly went unnoticed.
During a Q&A panel for the film, producer Barbara Muschietti revealed that Ezra Miller’s The Flash could potentially activate the reboot button in the DC Extended Universe, essentially “[restarting] everything.” She commented:
"“Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines. And in a way, it restarts everything and doesn’t forget anything.”"
This, however, is not at all surprising considering that, since the disappointing reception of Justice League, there has been speculation of The Flash movie being used as the catalyst to reboot the DCEU.

What is very interesting is the fact that the movie fans waited so long for – and once upon a time seemed like it was never going to happen – could actually be the one to reinvigorate the DCEU. Yes, The Flash’s future had been uncertain for quite some time.
Game Night filmmakers and Spider-Man: Homecoming scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein departed the project after they were brought in to work on it.
Miller and Grant Morrison then submitted a draft of the script to Warner Bros. and an iteration of The Flash they felt passionate about. The higher powers at Warner, though enamored by their efforts, passed on it. This draft was rumored to feature a darker tone and shared a bit of multiversity, which will also likely be a key feature of Christina Hodson’s screenplay.
What are your thoughts on Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s vision for the standalone motion picture of The Flash? Should the DCEU receive a reboot? And how similar do you think this story will be to Flashpoint? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
