Joker dies

In Batman No. 99, Harley Quinn told Batman that it was time to put The Joker down for good. There have been a lot of Batman fan who’ve believed this for years, but The Dark Knight always found a new way to overcome the Clown Prince of Crime. This time, however, it may be different because, after all Joker has done, Bruce may finally put an end to the villain.

Harley was ready to do it. Of course, Batman has his code and told her that he couldn’t let that happen. Harley brought up the point that everyone was thinking: What happens when Joker escapes again? He’s going to ruin more lives, kill even more people, and Batman still won’t get it. As a result, this writer believes that this ends with Joker’s death.

Considering the Three Jokers storyline going on, this is a bold prediction. It’s also daring since Joker is the most popular supervillain in comics. Nonetheless, it ends here. The question is: Who does it?

The easy answer is Harley Quinn. Batman walks a defeated Joker out of Ace Chemicals and Harley shoots him in the head. The other way this can go is Batman killing him. This one is less likely, but it could happen – and it could also be how Joker finally defeats Batman. Not only will Batman break his one rule, we’ll get to see what happens next. Will this start Batman on the path he’s worried about for years? Or can this be a one time thing?

A dangerous part of this is the backlash it could potentially receive from fans and critics. Fans don’t appreciate when major changes happen to their favorite characters. When Captain America said, “Hail Hydra” everyone lost their minds (this writer included). If writer James Tynion IV has Batman kill Joker, he will undoubtedly divide fans for pulling off such a bold move.
