Punchline becomes the new regular

It would be weird for DC Comics to bring in a great new character for nothing to happen.

Punchline has proven that she’s a threat. She doesn’t have Joker’s charisma but she does have her own. She’s more direct with her violence and doesn’t need to beat around the bush when she can just burn down the tree. We’ve seen that she is to be taken seriously. Punchline intimidates her goons into doing what she wants, she’s beaten Harley in a fight, and helped Joker outsmart Batman. All of that sounds like someone Bruce will be worrying about for years.

There’s also the option that Punchline could become The Joker. Joker and Batman are having their final fight at Ace Chemicals. It wouldn’t take much for her to fall in a vat of chemicals and restart the cycle. It wouldn’t be shocking if she jumped in on her own volition.

Her obsession with Joker is dangerous. If Joker dies, she may feel the need to make sure that one exists. Some sidekicks feel that the legacy must continue.

Batman needs a Joker. He’s the antithesis of everything the hero stands for. Superman needs Luthor, Wolverine needs Sabretooth, so The Dark Knight needs a Clown Prince. And if the original Joker really does meet his end at the hands of Batman, Punchline may just take his place.
