WandaVision has already trounced Black Widow in an unexpected way
WandaVision is the only MCU project we will be getting in 2020 and it has given fans hope, especially when a trailer for the series dropped during the Emmys. To make it even better, the promo actually broke records.
WandaVision is coming to Disney+ this year after all and we’ve been treated to a taste of what to expect during the Emmys. In just the last few days, Deadline has revealed that the promo for the upcoming show – which made its debut during the awards ceremony – actually broke a record 24 hours after its debut by raking in 53M views, drawing the largest audience in 24 hours ever for a streaming service ad spot. This actually beat the 6.1M viewers that tuned to the awards show itself by a massive margin.
When the promo dropped on Emmys night, it was mentioned 302.6k times and it immediately trended on Twitter where it ranked an impressive fourth place. On YouTube, the WandaVision promo quickly found itself landing in second place on the Top 10 trending list.
What makes this even more impressive is that the trailer’s 24-hour social media traffic topped the 24-hour viewings for the promos for fellow upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project, Black Widow which had a total of 18.7M views and Disney film, Mulan – which amassed 12.4M views when they debuted at the SuperBowl earlier in the year.

For those who might have been living under a rock since the announcement of WandaVision, here’s a quick breakdown of the series.
After the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Wanda Maximoff will be grieving the loss of her android partner Vision who was killed by the mad titan Thanos. In her grief, she will somehow end up in an alternate reality where she will be reunited with her lost love but something isn’t right as they end up in a series of wacky situations akin to old sitcoms. They will also cross paths with S.W.O.R.D., and Captain Marvel’s goddaughter Monica Rambeau.
WandaVision will serve as a prequel to the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in which Wanda is slated to appear.
WandaVision zaps onto Disney+ sometime in December. Are you excited for the show’s arrival? Let us know in the comments below!
