HBO Max has officially greenlit a Green Lantern TV series with even more promise than we initially expected.

It’s been a long time coming but the Green Lantern is finally heading to our TV screens. Well, four of them to be exact. HBO Max has officially greenlit the long-teased Lantern series, meaning that it is now moving forward at the WarnerMedia platform.

The show was originally announced during the development stage a year ago, but it will now go to series with Variety confirming that the HBO Max original series will consist of 10 episodes and will revolve around multiple Green Lanterns.

A Green Lantern series with many Green Lanterns

The report by Variety has revealed that the show will primarily feature four Green Lanterns, with Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz and Alan Scott all playing major parts. Furthermore, it also confirmed that it will be true to the comics as Scott will indeed be a gay man. No doubt a major step forward in representation, it’s truly great to hear that the show will honor Alan Scott’s comic book backstory.

It will reportedly also feature Sinestro and Kilowog and other various heroes who may or may not join the Green Lantern corps.

More from TV

The as-of-yet untitled Lantern show will be overseen by executive producers Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim. The former will serve as the showrunner while Arrowverse mastermind Greg Berlanti will produce through his Berlanti Productions.

Guggenheim is no stranger to superheroes either as he served as executive producer on The CW’s Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow while also co-writing the 2011 Green Lantern movie which starred Ryan Reynolds in the titular role. It goes without saying that fans are hoping the series will enjoy more success than the film.

No word on if the most popular Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, will make their presences felt but you can rest assured that fans will be hooked one way or another.
