WandaVision fan theories: Retconning the House Of M storyline

There has been a lot of rumors and speculation swirling when it comes to when the mutants will enter the MCU. Some believe their arrival could be kicked off in WandaVision with what would be one of the biggest retcons ever and what many would consider an act of pure genius.

The theory here states that the Disney+ original series could be taking the House of M storyline from the comics. One significant indicator that this could be the case was a label on a wine bottle noticed in the trailer which reads “Maison du Mepris,” which literally translates to House of M.

The House of M is notoriously one of Scarlet Witch’s most famous storylines and sees the hero suffer a mental breakdown with catastrophic consequences. She loses control, and her powers eradicate the mutants from existence, leaving no memory of them at all.

It could very well come to light that Wanda has retroactively erased the existence of mutants from the MCU, and all this time, we’ve been witnessing a universe that could have had the X-Men if not for Scarlet Witch. Or it could go the other way, and her powers could open up the mutant gene in everyone else that has it just like the Mind Stone unlocked her powers. Either way, this would be all kinds of epic and provide a perfect pathway for the mutant heroes MCU fans have been waiting for.
