Storm

During Giant Size X-Men Storm, we saw Storm fight for her life. Despite mutants being resurrected, Storm knew that valuing life meant not accepting that you’ll always be brought back. You can’t take it for granted. While it may seem like that issue was specifically made for her to die in X of Swords, it wasn’t.

Chance of death: Low

Storm is one of the most popular characters in comic books. Having her die, even for shock value, would be a mistake. Some may be concerned that the tarot card she was given said Death. However, those cards aren’t to be taken literally. In Marauders 14, Storm and the Horseman Death shared a seemingly romantic dance. Her card could mean a connection to death and not actually dying.

Cypher

Cypher entering into this fight is shocking. He’s not a fighter. Magik’s sword training has given him some skill and with Warlock as a sword means he has a connection to his weapon. The question here is if it’s enough. It’s not likely. Although, that doesn’t mean he’ll die.

Chance of death: Moderate

Cypher dying would be sad. That’s the only reason that he has a chance of dying. And, if he does, he’ll be the first one to go. The reason he may not die is due to his tarot card. It shows him toasting someone with some of the text covered. The only thing we see is the word “Two”. Maybe this is him striking a deal instead of fighting. That seems more likely.
