Ryan Reynolds to join MCU as Deadpool 3 moves ahead at Marvel Studios
Deadpool 3 is moving ahead at Marvel Studios with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role and Bob’s Burgers vets Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin boarding as writers.
Deadpool 3 has been of particular interest to fans since the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney, with many unsure what the future held for the acclaimed franchise within Fox’s X-Men bundle of films, but now it seems things may be charging ahead as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As revealed by Deadline, the film is moving ahead at Marvel Studios with Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin reportedly expected to sign on to pen the script.
Ryan Reynolds, the star behind the Merc with a Mouth himself (and producer of the franchise) engaged in writer meetings for the past month, hearing pitches from many potential writers before coming across the Molyneux sisters.
Will Deadpool 3 become part of the MCU?
With Deadpool 3 currently in early development, and Kevin Feige on board to help produce the next entry of the wise-cracking, merciless, fourth-wall-breaking anti-hero, this is the first step to getting cameras rolling.

Before the Disney and Fox merger, there were initial concerns due to the nature of Deadpool’s character, that subsequent films would not be able to retain its R-rating after being consolidated within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though, fear not, sources close to Deadline have stated the next installment will keep its hardcore rating.
Rest assured, this should appease MCU fans, for with Feige’s strong track record when it comes to slotting heroes into the MCU late in the game (see: Spider-Man), there is surely a ray of hope for the next chapter of the franchise.
David Leitch, who helmed Deadpool 2 and took over from Tim Miller as director, has a busy schedule in 2021 although the door is left open for his return. While it is too early to expect a schedule for when Deadpool 3 will enter production, do not be too surprised if another director spearheads the third chapter.
