Black Panther 2: A digital double of Chadwick Boseman will not feature
MCU producer and EP of the original Black Panther film Victoria Alonso has confirmed that there will be no digital double of Chadwick Boseman in Black Panther 2.
Executive producer of Black Panther, Victoria Alonso spoke to newspaper Clarín (H/T: Deadline) and confirmed that no CGI double of the late Chadwick Boseman will be used for sequel Black Panther 2.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe producer explained in the interview:
"“No. There’s only one Chadwick, and he’s no longer with us. Sadly, our king has died in real life, not only in fiction, and we’re taking a little time to see how we continue the story and how to honor this chapter of what has unexpectedly happened to us, so painful and terrible to be honest.“Chadwick wasn’t only a wonderful human being, every day of the 5 years we spent together, but also, I believe, that what he did as a character elevated us as a company and has left his moment on history.”"
The late Da 5 Bloods actor joined the MCU in 2016 with the release of Captain America: Civil War. That same year, Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer, a diagnosis that the actor kept private as he received treatment and continued to perform.
Boseman reprised his role as King T’Challa/Black Panther in the character’s 2018 solo movie. He then also went on to reprise his breakthrough role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
