David Ramsey, known for playing John Diggle aka Spartan on Arrow will be reprising his Arrowverse role in multiple different TV shows and directing multiple episodes too.

It seems David Ramsey will be enjoying his television exploits in the Arrowverse playground a lot more (behind the cameras as well as in front of it) for Deadline has confirmed the Arrow star will not only be reprising his role as John Diggle aka Spartan, but he will direct five episodes of the Arrow spin-off shows set in the DC Universe.

Ramsey, in addition, will guest star as another mysterious character in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. He will be guest-starring as DC’s fan favorite ex-bodyguard-turned-member of Team Arrow in episodes of Superman & Lois, Supergirl, The Flash and Batwoman.

Of the shows, Ramsey has been stated to direct an episode of Supergirl and its newcomer sister show Superman & Lois. Whether or not he will direct all of the above same episodes he is guest-starring in is uncertain.

More from Arrowverse

The actor – who is also quite the adept martial artist – made his directorial debut during Arrow‘s seventh season and went on to direct one more episode during its final season. During the series finale, adequately named “Fadeout”, his character Diggle moved to Metropolis with his family after he came into contact with what fans hoped was the Green Lantern’s ring. Discussing his contributions to the franchise Ramsey said:

"“I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I’ve been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera.”“To say I’m excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can’t wait to continue telling these stories.”"

With Ramsey making his return in a guest star capacity, this will no doubt be a bit of nostalgia and a good nod to Arrow for fans. It will also hopefully expand into something exceptional later down the line with the John Diggle character.
