The Walt Disney Company’s 2020 Investor Day answered many burning questions about the future of Marvel entertainment. Here’s a look at every amazing announcement! 

Today is the day we’ve been waiting for! After months of anticipation, The Walt Disney Company’s 2020 Investor Day has arrived and with it comes what promises to be a day full of exciting announcements connected to the company’s biggest franchises including Marvel Studios.

During the annual presentation, the top dogs of The Walt Disney Company will present to investors and fans a first look at what’s to come for its most beloved franchises and properties. Just last year, Disney used the Investor Day presentation to unveil several major Marvel projects with the announcements of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and What If?  three properties that will soon arrive on Disney+.

Heading into the presentation, the big hope by fans was that we might not only learn the premiere timelines for previously confirmed projects such as Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Loki but also receive new information on casting and other projects in development.

Disney announces plans to roll out roughly 10 Marvel Disney+ series

While a timeline is unclear, Disney has announced that roughly 10 Marvel series are in development at Disney Plus. The strategic move will further build upon the service’s library and success of the franchise’s cinematic universe.

WandaVision season 1 trailer

Kicking off the action, Disney+ released a mind-bending new trailer for its upcoming Marvel series WandaVision arriving on Jan. 15, 2021. Check out the trailer below:

Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiere date, episode count and trailer

Originally intended to release in the summer of 2020, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will now premiere on Disney+ Friday, March 19, 2021, with what will be a six-episode season. In addition to confirming the release date and episode count for the show, Disney+ surprised fans with our first look at the series with a new trailer packed with action!

Loki season 1 premiere date and trailer

While Loki was originally announced at the same time as WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, little had been revealed about the Tom Hiddleston-led series. That all changed during the Disney Investor Day presentation when Disney confirmed the series will be dropping in May 2021.

In addition to confirming the show’s release date, Disney revealed the first trailer for the series which is described as a “crime-thriller.”

What If…? coming in Summer 2021

Summer 2021 is shaping up to be quite exciting for Marvel fans! Marvel Studios’ first cinematic connective animated project, What If…? will arrive on Disney+ in Summer 2021 — likely after Loki has wrapped its official run on the service.

Ms. Marvel release date confirmed for late 2021

Newcomer Iman Vellani will step into the shoes of Kamala Kahn when Ms. Marvel comes to Disney+ in late 2021. An official premiere date is to be announced, but it seems likely we could be looking at a premiere date sometime between September and November.

Hawkeye season 1 cast confirmed by Marvel

After much speculation, Marvel has confirmed the cast for Hawkeye, and boy what a cast they’ve assembled! Joining Jeremy Renner in the new Disney+ series will be Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop), Vera Farmiga, Fra Free, and newcomer Alaqua Cox.

She-Hulk cast to feature Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo

Disney has lined up quite the impressive cast for its upcoming She-Hulk series! In addition to confirming that Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany will portray Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Marvel has announced Tim Roth will reprise his role of the Abomination while Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.

New Marvel series in development at Disney+

After sharing a wave of exciting announcements about its previously announced series, Marvel confirmed several new Disney+ series in development as part of the upcoming chapter of the MCU.

Among the new Marvel series announced during the Disney Investor Day call was Secret Invasion starring Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Skrull Talos; Ironheart, a new original series starring Dominque Thorne as Riri Williams; Armor Wars featuring the return of Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine; a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special from James Gunn; and I Am Groot, a new series of shorts featuring Baby Groot.

Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness casting news

When Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness opens in theaters on March 25, 2022, it will do so with help from an all-star level cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, & Xochitl Gomez.

Captain Marvel 2 cast

With director Nia DaCosta at its helm, Captain Marvel 2 will see Brie Larson returning as Carol Danvers who will be joined by Ms. Marvel‘s Iman Vellani and WandaVision‘s Teyonah Parris.

Christian Bale confirmed for Thor Love and Thunder

Oscar-winner Christian Bale will officially make his MCU debut as part of the cast of Thor Love and Thunder, appearing as the film’s villain Gorr the God Butcher.

Will Marvel recast Black Panther for Black Panther 2?

One of the major burning questions heading into the event was the future of the Black Panther franchise in wake of Chadwick Boseman’s unexpected passing. While recasting might seem like a reasonable option, Marvel has confirmed they will not recast the role of Black Panther in Black Panther 2 which will open in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Instead, Marvel will “explore the world of Wakanda and rich characters introduced in the first film.”

Fantastic Four film in development at Marvel

After finally getting the rights back from 20th Century FOX, Marvel is officially developing a Fantastic Four film set to be directed by Jon Watts.

Ant-Man 3 title and cast revealed

Following the success of Ant-Man and the Wasp, the franchise will continue with a third film set to be titled Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. As expected, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pheiffer will all reprise their roles for the film with Kathryn Newton and Jonathan Majors joining the cast as Cassie Lang and Kang the Conqueror, respectively.
