The WandaVision trailer looked a lot like Pleasant Hill.

Disney Investors Day gave us the future of Marvel Comics on TV and the big screen. Release dates for Black Widow and Thor: Love and Thunder were confirmed while it was revealed that new shows like Ironheart, Secret Invasion, and Armor Wars would be coming to Disney Plus. These projects will definitely have an effect on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future while other upcoming ones will too – something we know that we got new trailers for Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and WandaVision.

Speaking of WandaVision, the new trailer was quite the whirlwind. However, it also teased something others may not have caught. There are a lot of theories questioning whether Wanda is the one causing the issues with reality. While some of this could very well be true, something else could be going on entirely because the trailer seemed a lot like Pleasant Hill from Avengers Standoff!

Watch the trailer below:

What is Pleasant Hill?

In Marvel Comics, S.H.I.E.L.D. had a unique idea. The plan was to take criminals and brainwash them into being kind members of society. No more violent and unlawful thoughts or tendencies. They’d add to the Pleasant Hill community and everyone around them would live the American dream. Happiness, no poverty, and everyone was gainfully employed. There were even regular people in the community.

All of this might seem interesting on the surface but that’s only if you look past taking away a person’s mind. Taking that away means that there’s no chance of redemption. Then again, is it acceptable if the person is a violent criminal with no chance of redemption? These are questions that Marvel readers were faced with during the Pleasant Hill conversations.

How likely is this?

So far, we know that Wanda has her powers in WandaVision. However, as of now, we don’t know how powerful she is in the MCU. She’s strong enough to strike fear in Thanos and put visions in the mind of a god but can she affect an entire community? That remains to be seen.

More from Comics

However likely that is, we know that trailers aren’t always what they seem. How many times have we watched a preview of a TV show or film only to be fooled in the end? Avengers: Endgame showed the Hulk during the battle in Wakanda. As we saw, that didn’t happen in the movie. Sometimes it’s good to forget the obvious choice and think outside of the box.

The problem with Pleasant Hill is that it isn’t as well-known as some of the other storylines. The theory that’s floating around the internet is that WandaVision resembles House of M more than anything. If this writer is being honest, the House of M premise makes sense. It was a comic book crossover that displayed Wanda’s powers on an unfathomable level. She recreated an entire universe with ease. The series ended with her almost destroying the mutant gene with three words. That is the kind of potential Wanda has – enough to remake the world. Doing it to a community is most likely light work to her.

As popular House of M is, a combination of that and Pleasant Hill seems likely. This gives viewers the opportunity to see Wanda’s true power and explains why the show seems like a happy-go-lucky sitcom. Pleasant Hill could be the result of someone wanting to keeping tabs on her. She may have done something to terrify high ranking officials. Or maybe it’s the Skrulls keeping her under surveillance.

No matter what the theory is, we’ll all be tuned in to WandaVision. The show looks too good to miss.
