She-Hulk: 3 Marvel villains that could be the MCU show’s Big Bad
3. Ultima
Ultima Wordman is one of She-Hulk’s earliest foes and was introduced in The Savage She-Hulk No.9 in late 1980. She was trained at a young age in meditation and discipline – so much so that she acquired strength, speed and endurance beyond peak-human levels. She is also an experienced fighter in hand-to-hand combat.
She is the daughter of Jack and Apothea Wordman – the former of whom discovered he was able to use words to get whatever he wanted. He named himself the Word and formed a cult of loyal followers. Cult member Randolph Harrington then became Ultima’s love interest. However, when Randolph’s parents hired She-Hulk to retrieve their son from the organization, conflict between the pair brewed.
Infiltrating the Cult of the Word headquarters as Jennifer, she attempted to rescue Randolph. However, Ultima caught Jennifer conversing with the cult member and, jealous, she tried apprehending her – but not before the latter transformed into She-Hulk and escaped with Randolph. The two women engaged in battle, which left Ultima paralyzed and Randolph almost killed.
Ultima would be a great adversary to engage with She-Hulk on the Disney+ series. She is an all-round threat who can cover many areas during their bout – including providing the show with some great battles and Jennifer Walters with a huge threat to overcome in her first outing as a hero. No, on paper, she does not sound like an influencer but perhaps it could come from the angle of promoting her father’s organization as more of a social enterprise – an enterprise that could covertly be a secret cult.
