The Flash season 7 will introduce a chilling DC Comics villain and that could be the key to bringing Stargirl to the Arrowverse.

The Flash season 7 is just a little over a month away and fans of the Arrowverse show are very excited for its return. It has been off the air since May, when its sixth season came to an early close following the airing of its impromptu finale. It resumed production in October, with the remaining season 6 episodes being carried over to the beginning of season 7.

It’s set to return to screens in February and now, as revealed by TVLine, the show’s return will be bringing in another prominent DC villain. And this villain could be the very thing that leads to that long-awaited crossover between The Flash and DC’s Stargirl.

Who is Chillblaine on The Flash season 7?

Chillblaine will be joining The Flash season 7 in a recurring capacity and he will be portrayed by Shadowhunters star Jon Cor.

More from Arrowverse

The official character description reveals that the villain’s real name is Mark Stevens and that he’s a scientist “obsessed with cryogenic technology” who is “armed with his own cold weapons” and that he’s destined to “become a new thorn in the side of Team Flash. Aside from his villainy, however, he is set to be a bit of a heartbreaker.

Another ice-centric villain, the character is often associated with Golden Glider (the sister of Captain Cold) in DC Comics. Though The Flash doesn’t appear to be bringing back Peyton List as the show’s iteration of Lisa Snart, it will be interesting to see how they differentiate Chillblaine from Captain Cold as he made quite the impression on the Arrowverse.

If they do bring back Golden Glider, however, this could lead to that Stargirl crossover…

Is The Flash crossing over with Stargirl?

In the comics, Chillblaine is killed by girlfriend Lisa Snart/Golden Glider whenever she is possessed by Eclipso. Now, Eclipso is one of the two Big Bads of Stargirl season 2.

Considering Stargirl and The Flash almost crossed over last season – and the crossover was never taken off the table as a future possibility (especially now that they’re more related after Crisis On Infinite Earths) – could this pave the way for the official introduction of Stargirl and the JSA into the Arrowverse/CWVerse? Will we see Brec Bassinger’s Star-Spangled Girl team up with Grant Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster?

Whatever happens, it’s going to be a lot of fun watching Chillblaine come to life on The Flash season 7!
