Marvel: 10 things we must see from the MCU’s Wolverine
By Mark Lynch
2. Debut X-23 and Daken
In Logan, Daphne Keen stole the show and she barely even spoke. Her prominent role as X-23 really helped non-comic book fans get to know Laura Kinney really well. Comic book readers, however, already know how great she is.
She originally made her first appearance in an episode of X-Men: Evolution in 2003, but her first comic book appearance was in NYX in 2004. Since then, writers have continued to make her a more well-balanced character. They learned from the mistakes that were made with Wolverine by making her so much more than a machine too.
Then we have Wolverine’s son Daken. He hated his father because Romulus made him believe that Logan abandoned him and his mother. Daken’s hatred for his father ran deep and led to him killing people Logan cares about. He also threatened to blow up Logan’s school and, at one point, Logan had to kill him to protect his students.
Both Daken and Laura have a unique relationship with Logan. Both of them are now in a place where they’re actually a family. However, it took them a long time to get there. Romulus being involved easily puts Daken in Wolverine’s story. Laura can fit in by being his clone and evolving as she gets older. Maybe this could lead to a movie where the three of them take on Romulus.
