Even in death, Thanos returning is inevitable. Creator of the Mad Titan Jim Starlin discussed whether the Mad Titan would appear again in the MCU, and his comments will excite fans.

In an interview with Comicbook.com’s podcast, Thanos creator Jim Starlin was quizzed as to whether he thinks Marvel should bring the villain back for another ride in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though the Mad Titan was killed twice in Avengers: Endgame.

Starlin’s comments have ignited the rumour mill, perhaps even bringing hope to fans who wish to see Thanos make a reappearance in the MCU.

Jim Starlin via Comicbook.com:

"“I think they are… They made a truck of money off of and I believe I’ve heard some rumors that he’s coming back in different things. The first I think I’ve heard confirmed from Marvel Studios, he’s going to be in at least a guest appearance inside the Eternals. So he’s going to be around.”"

After rumours ignited, Starlin reassured fans that “I heard this myself,” and added, “this is something I read somewhere.” While this may have been used to cool off any expectations, Starlin seemed pretty confident in his original comments.

Is Thanos returning to the MCU in Eternals?

It sounds like we could see Thanos again in the near-future. Whether or not Starlin has had conversations with Marvel about the character appearing in Eternals is uncertain, as nothing has been confirmed about the Mad Titan making a return to the MCU in the film as of yet.

However, it would be interesting to see given Thanos’ father A’lars is often portrayed as a leader of the Eternals and Thanos is an Eternal himself, albeit a deviant hybrid (hence why he does not look as humanoid as the other Eternals).

The Eternals movie is set to tell over 7,000 years worth of story, meaning that a Thanos cameo or a few scenes featuring the Mad Titan could be a real possibility. It could give fans the chance to see Thanos’ backstory, as some concept art released in 2019 teased that Marvel originally planned to go down that road during Avengers Infinity War.

While Thanos may not turn up in the film, it is the most likely place to see a reemergence of the character given the nature of the film. If his character is not revealed in any of the trailers, then we may not know whether he will appear in the film until it is released in November 2021.
