The film has been in the headlines a lot recently due to the legal conflict between Legendary and Warner Bros. after the latter announced it would be releasing all of its planned 2021 movies on streaming service HBO Max as well as in theaters due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. That conflict was recently resolved and actually resulted in the movie being fast-tracked, with it jumping from its planned May release to a March release instead.
Godzilla vs. Kong will be released simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters in the U.S. on March 26, 2021. It’s unknown what is planned for its global rollout as of yet.
