WandaVision: 5 burning questions for Episode 5

1. Is Wanda the villain of WandaVision?

WandaVision has done an exceptional job of switching aspect ratios and filming techniques everytime the real world threatens to infringe on Wanda’s happiness. The Scarlet Witch’s living sitcom has employed a more sinister tone during sequences like the beekeeper’s arrival, the SWORD helicopter’s arrival, the radio interruption and, indeed, Geraldine’s expulsion from Westview.

All have been successful but it was the confrontation with Geraldine that really emphasized that because of how sinister Wanda suddenly became. However, Episode 4 added even more context to that as we got to see what happened between the two before Monica was sent back to the real world. And it was here that the sitcom veil of Westview was officially dropped.

We finally saw said sitcom world in the MCU’s typical widescreen format with no dated look and no laugh-track in the background. The reason for the presentation was down to the fact that Wanda went full Scarlet Witch and sent Monica Rambeau out of her world, destroying part of it in the process before putting it back together. With that, Wanda made it clear that she’s willing to do whatever it takes to hold onto her happiness.

Will we see a more sinister Scarlet Witch going forward? It certainly looks that way.
