Black Widow runtime revealed: How long is the MCU film?
The runtime for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow has been revealed.
Black Widow was initially set to kick-off Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that unfortunately wasn’t able to happen in 2020. Though the film is scheduled to be released later this year (and that release date could still change), WandaVision managed to do that by arriving on Disney+.
As of writing, the espionage-themed Marvel Studios film set to star Scarlett Johansson has the release date of May 7, 2021. There is still an air of mystery about the movie itself but one thing that isn’t unknown anymore is the runtime.
How long is Black Widow?
Black Widow has a runtime of 2 hours and 13 minutes. This was revealed on a write-up on the Disney UK website which confirmed the 133 minute length.
As ComicBook.com discusses, this is in and around the standard runtime for a standalone story within the MCU since the Russo Bros.’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier – which has a runtime of 136 minutes (2 hours,16 min). Ensemble films like Guardians of the Galaxy or Avengers films usually run for a little longer which is understandable as there are more characters to interweave within the larger overarching storyline.

This new spy adventure will see Johansson reprise her role as the subtle but deadly Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in an adventure set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War as she is forced to confront a dangerous conspiracy tied to her past before she became an Avenger. Cate Shortland is directing from a story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson and a screenplay penned by Eric Pearson.
Many fans of the MCU are worried Black Widow may get pushed back again because of the ongoing pandemic. With many major cinema chains closed around the world, things remain uncertain. Though many hope it will arrive on Disney Plus instead, that doesn’t appear to be an option that Marvel Studios is considering – not right now at least.
