4. An exciting new friendship

Archie Andrews and Toni Topaz have been involved in the same circles for seasons on Riverdale and you could probably count their direct interactions on one hand (maybe just two). But that’s all about to change as the duo look set to form what could very well be the friendship of Riverdale season 5.

With Archie returning to town after his time away in the army, he’ll need somebody there to provide him with updates about what has actually been going on in the seven years that he’s been away. As the trailers have already revealed, that person will be none other than Toni.

The idea of Archie and Toni becoming close friends is very exciting. Toni’s friendship with Jughead at the beginning of her run was interesting but, ever since she became a full-time part of the show, she hasn’t really had any kind of interactions with anyone outside of her relationship with Cheryl Blossom.

Moreover, Archie could use some new friends because (other than Veronica, Jughead and Betty) he has found himself lost in a number of storylines since the first season – many of which didn’t really fit. A friendship with another long-standing character like Toni could be the answer he’s looking for.

Archie and Toni could make an exciting duo and we’re all so excited to see that duo in action!
