WandaVision Episode 6: Is [SPOILER] really dead?

WandaVision’s sixth episode concluded with one of the most shocking moments of the series so far, but is all what it seems?

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the sole purpose of the Hex in WandaVision is to keep Wanda’s fantasy away from the prying eyes of the outside world. Fans had predicted that the Scarlet Witch had something to do with the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Disney Plus series but the overall baffling presentation didn’t allow for much answers… until now.

The latest episode, “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!”, saw Wanda and her newly-returned brother Pietro Maximoff (played by Evan Peters) take her and Vision’s children, Tommy and Billy, out trick-or-treating for Halloween. However, she warned her family to stay away from the edge of town.

This was advice that her husband Vision couldn’t follow as he attempted to exit the Hex to find out what was really going. In doing so, however, he began to disintegrate – as S.W.O.R.D.’s Tyler Hayward watched on without even attempting to help him. After that, he collapsed and apparently shut down one more time.

Is Vision dead in WandaVision?

In spite of how things looked, Vision did not die a second time in WandaVision. Okay, maybe he did for a second or two, but Wanda’s decision to expand the Hex brought him back inside the safety of those static walls – and inside those walls she can manipulate almost everything.

With that in mind, Vision will undoubtedly return to life. Well, life inside Westview, that is. As we’ve all established by now (including Vision himself apparently), he is still dead in the outside world and Wanda’s spell isn’t able to keep him alive outside of Westview.

Vision lives to fight another day inside Westview, but how long will it be until Wanda’s forced to confront the reality that her beloved husband’s death in Avengers: Infinity War simply cannot be undone?
