It’s Wonder Woman vs the Undoing in an adventure at the end of time in a finale-worthy issue of DC Future State.

The DC Future State comic book series keeps on rolling. In week five, we got a lot of information about the Green Lanterns. First of all, John Stewart showed an army of evil aliens that the Green Lantern Power Ring isn’t what makes the heroes strong as he and the other former Green Lanterns saved a planet without their powers. Also, Bruce Wayne found out a secret about the Magistrate: They’re watching everyone in Gotham whether they’re masks or civilians.

Week six was strong as well for DC Future State. Nightwing and the rest of the Bat-Family help hit the Magistrate hard. They not only defeat them, but showcase who they really are to the world. However, if it wasn’t for Spoiler and Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), the family wouldn’t have been together.

The Bat-Family’s triumph is fantastic, but not the best part of DC Future State. That honor goes to Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman: Last hero in the universe in DC Future State

Comic book: DC Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman No. 2

"“What are the chances of coming across pieces of my ruined world in the infinite void.” – Wonder Woman"

In the comic book DC Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman No. 1, Wonder Woman was confronted by Darkseid during the beginning of the end of time as she and Superman were both defeated. In issue No. 2, Superman sacrificed himself to kill Darkseid by flying him into the sun. During their fight, the sun exploded and that was the last we saw of either of them. This left Wonder Woman to search the universe looking for hope.

On her journey, Wonder Woman comes across the beings destroying the universe. She names them the Undoing – which is a very appropriate name. Diana manages to defeat them on her journey. Along the way, she finds the Spectre – a being who can be looked at as god’s wrath. With nothing left to avenge, his time is over. Wonder Woman releases him from job. Now, she’s alone in the universe. It’s just her and the Undoing at the end of time.

Soon after she kills Spectre, the Undoing comes for her. As expected, Wonder Woman doesn’t go down without a fight. Unfortunately, the Undoing is too much even for Wonder Woman. In the end, she’s beaten… or so it looks. Her bracelets start glowing and she clangs them together, unleashing a bright light that does more than kill the Undoing. It looks like she created a Big Bang.

Wonder Woman: Hero and creator of life

It seemed appropriate that Wonder Woman would be the last hero standing. She’s been the God of War and Peace and helped save the universe with the Justice League. The of Dark Nights: Death Metal further showed that she’s the one who should remain when all the others are gone.

More from Comics

Wonder Woman has proven time and again that she is more than just a hero. She’s one of the few members of the Justice League that’s willing to do whatever it takes to save the day – even if it means killing. She’s also shown that she has an unmatched resolve. Seeing her as a consultation at the end of her story made the journey even more satisfying.

The only complaint that this writer has is where this story was placed. It would have been nice for this to be the DC Future State story to close the two-month run. Considering this ends with the destruction of one universe and the creation of a new reality, you’d think this would be the finale. Regardless of how this writer feels, it was an incredible ending. Or, in this case, the beginning.
