Riverdale season 5 to take extended hiatus: When will it return?
Riverdale season 5 is currently on screens, but the show will be taking an extended hiatus in the very near future.
Riverdale season 5 has been entertaining fans since its premiere back in January. The long-running TV thriller series has been a fan-favorite for fans of The CW (and worldwide on Netflix) and the fifth season has been its most intriguing yet.
Initiating a seven-year time-jump, Riverdale saw Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper go their separate ways after graduating from Riverdale High before reuniting some time later. During that time, Archie joined the army, Jughead became a published author, Veronica became the “She-Wolf of Wall Street” and lived on the Upper East Side and Betty became an FBI Agent.
Unfortunately, however, the drama will be paused as Riverdale is set to take an extended hiatus from screens. The show is expected to continue airing new episodes until late March before taking its break.
When does Riverdale season 5 return to The CW?
Riverdale season 5 will return from its extended hiatus on Wednesday, July 7 at 8pm. That means the show will remain off the air during April, May and June while new show Kung Fu will take over its slot until then.
The show’s fifth season consists of 19 episodes, so when it goes off the air in March it will have aired between 9 and 10 of them, meaning that it will air another 9 or 10 whenever it returns in the summer.
Riverdale currently airs new episodes on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. It will continue to do so until late March before it is replaced midseason by Kung Fu‘s debut season in April. It will then return on Wednesday, July 7.
