There are moments in comic books that are fortuitous. This is one of them. Wade and Cable were having one of their signature battles. During that time, Cable asked how helping people change the way they looked would be a good thing. Wade took his mask off and said, “Hey, if you looked like Ryan Reynold crossed a Shar- Pei, you’d understand!” Could this have been the thing that put Deadpool on Ryan Reynolds’ radar? It’s doubtful that it was a coincidence that Reynolds was cast soon after. Even if it is, this writer will say it wasn’t.

If there’s one place you don’t want to be, it’s in the mind of Deadpool. However, there was one time when it was the perfect place to help save the day. Kobik was the living cosmic cube in the form of a little girl. She was being used by others to create a peaceful prison, but it didn’t work. In the end, there was chaos. When things seemed dark, Wade stepped in. He understood that she was being used and he could relate to that. He told her to take a peek in his mind. She took a look and calmed down. Kobik saw that Wade knew what it was like to be controlled. After that, she put everything back to normal and disappeared. It’s funny to see Wade’s fractured mind save the day.
