WandaVision Episode 8 reflected on Wanda’s life but it also may have made reference to the iconic team of mutants known as the X-Men.

All eyes were watching WandaVision‘s latest episode as “Previously On” caught us all up on the events that led Wanda to create Westview on the Disney Plus show.

The Scarlet Witch had been having an incredibly tough time processing the fact that she had lost Vision so that ultimately forced to her create her own reality in which he was still alive. And thus, Westview and WandaVision were born.

However, upon discovering that Agatha Harkness was involved in the recent chaos, things began to reveal themselves to Wanda (and to us). And some of those things had to do with the identity of Pietro Maximoff.

Is Pietro Maximoff bringing the X-Men to the MCU in WandaVision?

Ever since Evan Peters turned up on Wanda’s doorstep as Pietro Maximoff, Marvel fans have been wondering if the X-Men are about to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, we all know that Peters played an alternate version of Pietro named Peter in Fox’s X-Men franchise, but that isn’t part of the MCU continuity.

This week’s episode of WandaVision, however, confirmed that Pietro – or “Fietro” as Agatha called him – is indeed a fake. He’s not the version of Pietro that Wanda grew up with and is, in fact, a pawn being controlled by Agatha.

Agatha revealed that the body of the MCU’s Pietro is on another continent but the interesting thing here is that the show was very specific to include Agatha’s “it wasn’t literally me, just my eyes and ears” when talking about “fake Pietro”. This could mean that there is more to the possession than we think.

If it wasn’t “literally” her, then who was it? And why does he look like Evan Peters?

With the multiverse set to make its debut in the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, this could be the moment that it all becomes real. Perhaps Agatha plucked Peter Maximoff from the X-Men continuity and has been using him as her eyes and ears ever since?

We’ll have to wait and see, but this could be the beginning of the MCU’s acknowledgement of the mutants and that’s an incredibly exciting prospect.

WandaVision‘s finale streams on Disney+ next Friday, March 5, at 12:00 a.m. PT and 3:00 a.m. ET.
