You can always count on someone in the Avengers to provide some kind of banter. Especially in the middle of a fight. There could be a universe-threatening bomb about to go off and someone will say something witty, funny, or just plain ridiculous. It happens in the comic books and it definitely happens in the movies.
During The Avengers, Black Widow and Hawkeye are facing the Chitauri. Neither of them has super strength or the ability to call down lightning from the sky. They have to rely on their weapons and creativity. Despite the danger they were in, Black Widow managed to get a joke out.

This wasn’t just a funny conversation. It was one of the best in a movie full of classic lines. Black Widow and Hawkeye were reminiscing over a battle they had in Budapest. All while fighting for their lives in an alien invasion. Hawkeye was taken aback by her comment. It left people to wonder two things.
First, happened in Budapest? Second, was it worse than what was going on at the time? Either way, we need to know what happened. We can guess that Black Widow will mention it in her solo movie. Even then, we still won’t know what happened. It’ll forever be the joke we never get the punchline for.
