4. It really was Agatha all along

“Oh did I do that?” Wanda asked when the hanging butterfly toy turned into real butterflies in Episode 3. “I didn’t mean to.” And that right there is how WandaVision unravelled for Wanda and Vision – because it wasn’t Wanda. It was, of course, Agatha.

WandaVision has continued to pull the wool over viewers’ eyes since it began, destroying all of their theories and creating new ones in the process. One thing that it couldn’t ultimately overcome, however, was fans’ certainty that Agnes the neighbor was actually Agatha Harkness in disguise. A long-teased theory, viewers had predicted this since the first trailer and they were ultimately proven to be correct when Agatha revealed her true self two weeks ago.

That said, now that we know what we know, watching the show back really is an intriguing experience because everything did start to go wrong whenever Agatha – or, uh, Agnes – showed up.

The miscommunication over the Hart mystery in Episode 1? Herb’s bizarre wall-cutting behavior in Episode 3? Wanda and Vision’s continued conflict in Episode 5 after Agnes asked her if she wanted to “take it again”? Vision’s curiosity about what exists outside of the Hex? It was all Agatha.

You really do have to hand it to the writers because, in spite of how obvious the twist was, the groundwork around it was incredibly subtle.
