3. Pietro was snooping for Agatha since his first appearance

One thing that, in hindsight, wasn’t all that subtle was the purpose of Pietro Maximoff – or should we say “Fietro” Maximoff?. Wanda’s previously-deceased brother, Quicksilver, showed up at her doorstep at the end of Episode 5 and, in a move that was absolutely genius, he was portrayed by Evan Peters – who had played an alternate version of the character in Fox’s X-Men franchise.

Though we all initially thought Pietro was that reference to the X-Men we had been waiting on, it turns out that he was actually a pawn placed in play by Agatha herself to watch Wanda. If you watch it back, you’ll probably see that the Malcolm In The Middle-inspired opening credits went a long way to prove to us that Pietro was really Pietro (hence the “And Pietro Maximoff As Himself” credit!). This instantly stuck out for a number of fans because it felt like it was intentionally trying too hard to convince us – but Pietro would continue to raise eyebrows throughout the episode.

We now know that Agatha’s sole purpose was to find out how Wanda created the Hex and, if you watch episode 6 back, you’ll see that Pietro asked Wanda that question in multiple ways before directly posing her with it. He concealed it well with a meaningful moment but it’s clear that snooping was always his goal – something he outright acknowledged when he showed up behind Monica and told her “snoopers gonna snoop”.
