Episode 9 of WandaVision brought the Disney Plus show to an end but how does it set up Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Spoilers ahead.

WandaVision has been one heck of a ride. The Disney Plus series reintroduced us all to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it also allowed us a chance to get to know some of the characters that the movies often overlooked. At the heart of it was, of course, Wanda Maximoff and Vision.

Wanda’s creation of Westview was an act of grief that spiralled out of control until she didn’t know what she had done. Though she’s now well aware of it, she will undoubtedly hold onto the memories she made in that bizarre but beautiful little town.

While a second season of WandaVision remains unclear, Wanda will head straight to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That much we knew heading into the finale, but how does episode 9 set up the MCU sequel?

How WandaVision Episode 9 sets up Doctor Strange 2

Wanda has now become the Scarlet Witch – a being with uncontrollable power that is capable of destroying the world. Agatha Harkness thought she was a myth and was in awe of the fact that she actually existed in front of her because the Scarlet Witch’s power is said to exceed that of the Sorcerer Supreme.

As MCU fans know, Doctor Strange is believed to be the Sorcerer Supreme (after the Ancient One). And it seems that Wanda has already begun learning how to practice magic like he does as she was seen astral projecting in the finale’s post-credits scene so that she could take in all that she was reading when she was reading the Darkhold.

Of course, right before the episode’s conclusion she heard the voices of her children calling for her help. Does that mean Tommy and Billy are trapped somewhere and need her assistance? Is Mephisto about to make his presence felt? Or is something else going on entirely (Chthon perhaps)?

Whatever happens, Wanda could very well need the Sorcerer Supreme’s advice and guidance. Or she could need him to stop her if she goes too far. And, either way, she’s about to come face-to-face with him in Doctor Strange 2.

All episodes of WandaVision are now available on Disney+.
