Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every Marvel movie’s greatest character
By Mark Lynch
Who is the best character from Captain Marvel?
Marvel character: Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel is one of the better origin stories in a comic book project. People criticizing this movie seem to not appreciate everything that it did. Especially considering everything that took place.
It wasn’t just the origin of Carol Danvers. There was an extensive look into the Kree Empire, the first time we see the Skrulls, and Nick Fury before he became S.H.I.E.L.D. ‘s top dog. It’s also the first Marvel Studios movie to star a woman. One that will become one of the most important characters in the MCU. There were a few options to pick as the best character, but the choice is obvious.
Carol Danvers made her enemies look good. The main antagonist (Yon-Rogg) wasn’t as strong as the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe villains. The Kree as a whole was good, but he wasn’t the lead he could have been. Brie Larson helped make Jude Law’s character look deplorable. And, in the end, when she blasted him instead of fighting him on his terms, it made his defeat more enjoyable. Without her, the Kree fall flat.
Then we have Carol’s interaction with Maria Rambeau and the Skrulls. We get to see Carol’s compassionate side. This completed her character. We knew she was tough, powerful, and a great leader. Now the fans saw that she was caring as well. Maybe the best part was her changing costumes for Monica Rambeau.
Honorable mention: Nick Fury
