The Post-Credits Scenes

The first post-credit scene is self-explanatory. A Skrull disguised as an FBI agent invites Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) to see “him.” Presumably “him” is either Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who’s been busy helping the Skrulls find a new home planet, or the Skrull leader Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). In any case, this is definitely the precursor for Monica’s return in Captain Marvel 2 as Photon, Spectrum, or… Captain Marvel II.

The second post-credit scene, however, is more nebulous. We see Wanda hiding out in a remote cabin while another Wanda in her Scarlet Witch costume reads the Darkhold. Suddenly Wanda hears the voices of Billy (Julian Hillard) and Tommy (Jett Klyne) pleading for help. This is rather weird considering the twins disappeared along with the Hex and weren’t even real to begin with.

But those who’ve read the comic know it’s a bit more complicated than that. Remember that in the comics, Wanda conceived her twins by subconsciously using her Chaos Magic to take a portion of the devil Mephisto’s essence. Perhaps that’s what this post-credit scene is alluding towards, in that the twins are trapped in Hell. Or, if Marvel wants to really tie things up into a nice and neat little bow, perhaps the twins are trapped in the Dark Dimension or the Nightmare World.

It may also explain why Wanda will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Perhaps she might end up going to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to make an offer: He helps find her children in exchange for the Darkhold. Cue Strange, Wanda and others travelling into different universes to find Wanda’s kids. I guess we’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

In the meantime, I suppose we’ll have to entertain ourselves with the next Disney + series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And who knows? Maybe we can find some Marvel Comics-related Easter Eggs there, too.
