The Falcon and the Winter Soldier aren’t Wanda and Vision

A good place to start is with the heroes. Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes aren’t Wanda Maximoff and Vision. They’re going to have completely different kinds of problems. First of all, Sam and Bucky are dealing with their friend, Steve Rogers, being retired. With Steve’s retirement came the idea of a new Captain America.

Steve Rogers bequeathed Captain America’s shield to Sam Wilson – an honor that Sam didn’t see coming. Bucky seemed to know it was coming (leaving this writer to believe they had a conversation prior to that moment). He looked happy for Sam, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t jealous.

Bucky was Steve’s first friend. Possibly his best friend. Bucky may have thought that he was the one who should be the next Captain America. Maybe he will be at some point. It happened in the comics, sure, but as of now, Sam is next in line.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will have a lot of emotional moments that revolve around their relationship to Steve Rogers even if we don’t see him. Sometimes things will get serious. Other times you’ll get the random staring contests like we saw in the trailer. The point is, they won’t have the issues Wanda and Vision dealt with. Nevertheless, the drama will still be on display as they will tell their very own story.
