Is Bucky Barnes bisexual?: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to address fan theory
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could be about to address the fan theory in regards to Bucky Barnes being bisexual.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier may be giving us all a chance to catch up with two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most popular characters but the Disney Plus show is also allowing us to get to know Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in a way we never did before.
As we spend more time with the two heroes of the piece than any of the MCU movies could have given them, we’re learning about how the effects of both their battle-heavy lives and the Blip are impacting their day-to-day lives when they aren’t being superheroes.
On the other hand, this may also allow The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to address some of the characters’ overarching stories, like the long-running fan theory that Bucky is bisexual.
Is Bucky Barnes bisexual in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier?
In an interview with NME, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s lead writer Malcolm Spellman addressed the fan theory regarding Bucky’s sexuality, commenting:
"“I’m not diving down rabbit holes, but just keep watching…”"
Fans have speculated that the Winter Soldier might be bi in the past because of his close relationship with Steve Rogers. Though the character in the comics hasn’t come out as gay or bisexual, he did confirm that he once had a crush on Captain America himself.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s first episode also alluded to Bucky’s bisexuality as he revealed that he joined a dating app and came across a lot of tiger pictures (tiger pictures were often associated with men’s profiles on Tinder a number of years ago).
Kevin Feige has promised that the next phases of the MCU will be inclusive in terms of representation and kicking things off by confirming Bucky’s long-rumored bisexuality would certainly be a great way to start – and it would undoubtedly mean so much to so many people to see themselves represented on the Marvel TV series.
Whether The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will confirm the fan theory or allude to it even further remains to be seen.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier adds a new episode on Disney+ every Friday from midnight.
