When Disney first announced its slate of original Marvel programming coming to Disney Plus during San Diego Comic-Con 2019, there were quite a lot of series to get excited about. Among the many shows announced was what will be the first animated Marvel Cinematic Universe set project: Marvel’s What If.

In the series, Marvel will revisit pivotal moments from the MCU in posing the question of what if the moment had unfolded in an entirely different way leading viewers into uncharted territory. For example, what if it was Peggy Carter who took the Super Soldier Serum and not Steve Rogers.

Since its announcement, fans have been anxiously waiting for Marvel to announce a release date for What If season 1 with man. Given the show was one of the first MCU/Disney Plus projects announced by Disney, it’s not hard to see why the hope from fans was the show would have released already.

At this point, we’re all desperately awaiting the What If season 1release date, and it looks like our wait is going to have to continue for at least another month.

Marvel’s What If season 1 release date

The complete list of shows and movies coming to Disney Plus in April 2021 was recently revealed and, once again, Marvel’s What If season 1 was nowhere to be seen on the release schedule.

Although it’s been nearly two years since What If was first announced at SDCC during the summer of 2019, Marvel has yet to confirm the release date for What If season 1. That said, the studio has at least narrowed down the season when we can expect the show to debut in announcing What If season 1 will be coming to Disney Plus sometime in Summer 2021.

Given that Loki will be airing throughout June and early July, it seems likely the earliest What If season 1 will drop on Disney Plus will be late July. However, it seems more likely the 10-episode first season will begin sometime in perhaps August which is currently the only month during the summer which Marvel does not have a show or movie scheduled.

We’ll keep you updated the moment we get a confirmed release date for the long-in-development series which we’re hoping will arrive in early summer 2021, rather than late summer 2021!
