Riverdale season 5, episode 11 release date: When does the show return from hiatus?

Riverdale season 5 will be embarking on a very long break from now. But when will the show return to screens?

Riverdale season 5 has been providing TV fans with the bonkers kind of escapism that only Riverdale is capable of. It was a long wait for the show to begin its fifth season as it didn’t air any new episodes from May 2020 until January 2021, but the season that came afterwards proved to be worth it.

A season that has essentially rebooted the series, season 5 took a major time-jump a few episodes in (one that was originally meant to take place at the start of the season) to transport us to seven years into the future when the town of Riverdale is a very different place.

Archie Andrews spent those seven years in the army and has only just returned home. Jughead Jones became a published author but has spent the days that followed the publication of his first book suffering from a severe case of writer’s block. Elsewhere, Betty Cooper joined the FBI and found herself embroiled in the midst of a serial killer’s plot. And Veronica Lodge found her way to Wall Street – where she became its very own “She-Wolf”.

Unfortunately, the show will be taking an extended midseason hiatus and will be off our screens for some time.

When does Riverdale season 5 return?

Riverdale season 5 returns to The CW on Wednesday, July 7, at 8:00 p.m. ET. The next episode will be season 5, episode 11, titled “Chapter Eighty-Seven”, and it will serve as the midseason premiere, kicking off the second half of the season.

Hiram Lodge’s dastardly plan to destroy what’s left of town will undoubtedly continue in some form as Jughead Jones continues to investigate the mysterious Mothman conspiracy.

While the show is temporarily off the air, The CW will be launching new series Kung Fu in its place, so be sure to check that out in the meantime while waiting for Riverdale to return.
