Who was Battle Beast in the pages of the Invincible comic book?

***Warning! This article will contain possible spoilers for episode 5 and future episodes of Invincible.***

There are a couple of things that are guaranteed in Invincible – whether it’s the comic book or the Amazon Prime series we’re talking about. First of all, there are always going to be creative-looking characters; we’ve already seen some of them and there’s more in store. Secondly, you’ll see over the top violence – something that was apparent from the very first episode.

In episode 5, however, we got both of those things as the show introduced a character that had both a creative look and penchant for violence. His name is Battle Beast.

When it was revealed that Battle Beast was going to be in the Amazon series, this writer couldn’t wait for his first fight with Invincible. The creative team for the animated TV series certainly didn’t disappoint as they ensured that fight scene was everything that fans could have wanted. We witnessed his tolerance for pain, his strength and his superior fighting skills. If that wasn’t intimidating enough, Battle Beast is voiced by Michael Dorn (Star Trek’s Worf). He was a perfect representation of the comic book.

If you liked what you saw from Battle Beast, let’s see how you feel after you learn more about him.

The story of Battle Beast in Invincible

Battle Beast saved his home planet and turned it into a utopia. Their ruler called him his favorite son. After saving everyone, he became obsessed with fighting and, more specifically, finding the one person who could beat him in battle. That’s how he ended up on Earth. He was told that there were beings that could challenge – and possibly defeat – him. After his battle with Invincible, Titan, and the new Guardians of the Globe, he found out he was told wrong. He left, claiming he could destroy everyone, but that it would be a waste of his time.

Still searching for the being that could defeat him, Battle Beast ends up on Viltrumite prison ship with Nolan and Allen the Alien. As the duo are making an escape, they ask Battle Beast to join them with the offer of, you guessed it, battle. This would be the beginning of Battle Beast’s end.

More from Comics

On a recon mission, Battle Beast finds and fights the Viltrumites leader, Thragg. Their battle truly starts with Battle Beast disemboweling himself as Thragg had also been disemboweled after an attack and Battle Beast didn’t want his victory sullied by an uneven advantage. Their fight seems to have lasted days if not months. It was more brutal, bloodier than anything the Punisher could imagine. If Amazon Prime’s Invincible shows this fight, it’s going to blow viewers minds and possibly make them sick.

In the end, Battle Beast was defeated. He died happy (if that’s an emotion he can feel) knowing he found the one fighter better than him. Thragg took Battle Beast’s pelt and wore it as a shawl. Complete with Battle Beast’s head.

Battle Beast doesn’t have many layers to him. What you saw in episode five of Invincible is what you’re going to get. Even still, viewers will undoubtedly continue to enjoy him if and when he appears next. They’ll love to see him win and still root for him to lose. As weird as that sounds, you’ll understand it more as the series progresses. Hopefully, we’ll get to see his final fight with Thragg. If we do, it has the potential to be one of the best fight scenes in comic book TV history.
