Renée Elise Goldsberry has been cast in the lead opposite Tatiana Maslany on She-Hulk. Is she set to be the villain of the MCU series?

As revealed by Deadline, Tony Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry is set to star opposite Tatiana Maslany in the upcoming legal-comedy superhero original series She-Hulk on Disney Plus.

As production on She-Hulk has officially begun, expect more updates and announcements in the coming weeks and months while casting and production on the Maslany-led show continues.

Is Renée Elise Goldsberry playing the villain in Marvel’s She-Hulk?

According to the report, Goldsberry will portray a character named Amelia. It’s not yet known what kind of a role that will be, but as the star is expected to co-star opposite Maslany, it stands to reason that she could be the show’s primary antagonist.

Of course, nothing is confirmed as of yet but there has been a lot of speculation about who the show’s big bad could be. There are some interesting possibilities for Jennifer Walters’ first major foe but no confirmation as to who it will be yet.

More from Disney Plus

Time will tell, so until we receive any new details regarding Goldsberry’s character, “Amelia” remains a mystery. We are uncertain who in the comics her character could be based on, but perhaps this is the previously-teased social media influencer that was rumored to be involved in the show.

The upcoming legal-comedy series featuring the iconic green heroine is expected to come after Moon Knight as the eighth show on Disney+ within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She-Hulk stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Ginger Gonzaga and Renée Elise Goldsberry but more names may be added to the cast. Jessica Gao is serving as showrunner, while Dana Schwartz is writing the series with Kat Coiro and Anu Valia directing. Gao, Coiro and Kevin Feige are all credited as executive producers on She-Hulk.

Marvel Studios is producing the series. It’s currently filming in Atlanta, GA and it is expected to drop on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
