Loki season 1 is not coming to Disney Plus in May 2021
Loki is on the horizon but unfortunately he won’t be making his presence felt on Disney Plus this month.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe wasted little time making a return to screens in 2021. The Marvel Studios shared universe of superheroes hadn’t produced a new installment since the summer of 2019, making 2020 the first year without an MCU entry since 2009. But its transition to the streaming service changed everything.
WandaVision proved to be an engrossing standalone mystery that kept the world talking throughout the entirety of its run as it solidified the Scarlet Witch as one of the MCU’s most powerful characters. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was more recognizably MCU and the six-part thriller also set up the future of Captain America.
With those two Disney Plus shows now in the rear-view mirror (for now at least), all sights are set on Loki.
Starring Tom Hiddleston, the upcoming six-part series will see the God of Mischief launched into an adventure through time as he begins working with the TVA to stop a much more serious threat. Unfortunately, neither that adventure nor battle will be unfolding in May.
The complete list of films and TV shows coming to Disney Plus in May was recently released and Loki was not there, meaning that we’re going to have to wait a little while longer for it. Thankfully, we know how long that will be.
Loki season 1 release date
The reason that Loki season 1 wasn’t listed among Disney Plus’ May releases is down to the fact that it already has a confirmed release date in June.
Loki will premiere on Disney Plus on Friday, June 11, meaning that we don’t have too long to wait until its arrival. Yes, it’s a little longer than the gap between WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier but there is no doubt that Thor’s trickster brother will make sure the adventure is worth the wait.
It is then expected to release its five subsequent episodes on a weekly basis.
