Invincible has been streaming new episodes on Amazon Prime each Friday. Can we expect a new one to arrive this week?
Amazon Prime’s Invincible really shook up the world of superhero television. The fact that it managed to do that in the same year that the likes of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Superman & Lois arrived is no easy feat.
However, the animated series managed to do just that, captivating fans with some incredible storytelling, entertaining them with some impressive action scenes and even making them cringe at some intensely mature content. Regardless of what it made viewers feel, it made them feel.
Centering on Mark Grayson as he learns that he’s actually a near-invincible superhero, the show followed the young man who would become the hero known as Invincible as he learned how to use his powers and to overcome the obstacles that life, duality and even his own father threw in his way.
Is Invincible new today, May 7?
Unfortunately, Invincible will not be streaming a new episode this Friday. Though Friday is indeed its day of the week to air new installments on Amazon Prime, there has been a change to the streamer’s schedule because the show has come to the end of its initial run.
The season finale aired on screens last week, bringing the first chapter of Mark Grayson’s story to a close as he confronted his father Nolan/Omni-Man in a jaw-dropping showdown. Though some fans hoped the show might unveil another bonus episode, the season has indeed come to a close.
When does Invincible return to Amazon Prime?
The good news is that Invincible will return for a second and third season. The news of the show’s double renewal was announced ahead of the season finale and it received applause from the thrilled fans who were excited to hear that the story would continue.
It’s not known when the second season will begin as of yet, but taking season 1’s recent conclusion into account, it probably won’t be for some time yet. With that in mind, don’t expect season 2 to premiere until fall at the very earliest… though an early 2022 release may be more likely.
