Greatest comic book characters – 100. Yorick

First comic book appearance: Y: The Last Man No. 1

Yorick went from becoming a joke to becoming a pretty deep character. What’s funny is that even his banter was part of what made him interesting. Being the last man on Earth would mess anyone up. He just deflected with humor. When he had his “therapy session” everything made sense.

As the series progresses, he becomes more responsible. Fewer jokes and more action. Sure, he remained entertaining, but his stories became more timely. When you see what happens to him in the last issue, it sets him over the top. He evolved as a person, but somehow remained the same guy who loved life we first met in his debut appearance.

Greatest comic book characters – 99. Agent 355

First comic book appearance: Y: The Last Man No. 1

Agent 355 is a woman in a world with the most important job of all time. She has to protect the last man on Earth. If not, humanity is at its end. Throughout the series, she came across all sorts of dangers and never got scared. She jumped right in, took charge, and handled business.

As the series continued, we learned more about her and why she is who she is. The trauma she faced and the training she went through made her tough as nails. It also didn’t leave room for emotions. That didn’t stop her from becoming a deep character as the series progressed. An important character in one of the greatest comic book series of all time.
