Aquaman 2’s new official title teases the film’s mysterious story
The official title of Aquaman 2 has finally been revealed.
Aquaman proved to be a huge success for the DCEU, becoming the shared universe’s most successful movie of all time. It didn’t take long for a sequel to be announced.
There has been much speculation in regards to the title of Aquaman 2 and now director James Wan revealed via his Instagram account that the sequel is called Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Wan took a snap of a production meeting for the movie, showcasing a laptop screen that bore the new logo for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, featuring a sleek white font against the waves of the sea.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom looks to continue its predecessor’s success
Undoubtedly an unforgettable name, it leans towards the vein of the Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchises in terms of naming and it will definitely be interesting to see what story The Lost Kingdom brings with it.

The first film based on a DC Comics character since The Dark Knight Rises to cross the $1 billion mark, 2018’s Aquaman grossed $1.148 billion worldwide, making it the 20th highest-grossing film of all time. Todd Phillips’ Joker has now become the latest DC movie to surpass the $1 billion mark. Will Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom join it?
The sequel is still currently in pre-production and is expected to begin shooting in July. Jason Mamoa is set to reprise his role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman and revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show that he made contributions to the film’s script. No plot details have been released as of yet but from the film’s title, expect a lot of world-building and expansion to one of the kingdoms of Atlantis that were foreshadowed in the first movie.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Temuera Morrison, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren, Patrick Wilson and Pilou Asbæk.
James Wan is directing from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Walter Hamada and Michael Clear are credited as executive producers.
Wan and Peter Safran are producing for The Safran Company in association with Atomic Monster and DC Films. Warner Bros. Pictures is set to distribute.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is expected to hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.
