Is the younger Variant Loki going to be one of the Young Avengers?

In season 1, episode 5 of Loki, “Journey into Mystery”, the God of Mischief from the Marvel Cinematic Universe crossed paths with four versions of himself. We had Classic Loki, Boastful Loki, Alligator Loki and Kid Loki. The latter was the leader of the pack, which seemed weird at first. That’s until we found out that the kid killed Thor in his reality. As of now, we don’t know if it was a full grown Thor or one his age. Regardless, he killed Thor. That’s more than enough to make people take you seriously.

The Disney Plus Marvel Studios shows have all been incredible. While they very much set up the next phase of the MCU, they have also been planting seeds for what’s to come, particularly by using younger characters that may come into play in the future. On that note, Kid Loki proved to be a standout in the most recent episode of the third MCU series, making us all sit up and pay attention – and not just because Jack Veal was really good. It was because he’s now the fourth Young Avenger to appear in the three MCU Disney Plus shows so far.

More from Disney Plus

In WandaVision, the MCU introduced Wanda Maximoff’s kids Wiccan and Speed. They may not exist anymore, but they disappeared when they were babies in Marvel Comics. It’s likely that they’ll return again at some point. Moreover, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier gave us Elijah Bradley. Fans have since been speculating that he will become Young Avenger Patriot.

But that’s not all because more Young Avengers will be coming to the MCU in the near-future. Outside of the Disney Plus shows that we’ve seen so far, we know that Kate Bishop will debut in Hawkeye. Furthermore, America Chavez is set to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Altogether, that’s five Young Avengers that we know of so far. Where does that leave Kid Loki? Believe it or not, he was a Young Avenger as well.

Loki, death, and the Young Avengers

Loki has reinvented himself more times than any other Marvel Comics character. It’s probably because he’s had centuries to do so. He’s been a villain, a hero, and everything in between; it’s part of what keeps him interesting because he always keeps people guessing.

During Siege, the God of Mischief was ripped in half by The Void (Sentry’s other personality). Since Hela previously erased his name from Books of Hel, this meant that Loki wouldn’t die. This time, he came back in the form of a young boy. Later, he joined the Young Avengers (written by Kieron Gillen) roster with Hulkling, Wiccan, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), America Chavez, Noh-Varr and Miss America. At one point in the series, the Kid God of Mischief becomes a teenager in hopes of making his powers stronger.

Is Kid Loki joining the Young Avengers in the MCU?

Jack Veal did a great job as Kid Loki in a short space of time. He proved that he has what it takes to play the God of Mischief in the future in a more regular role, showcasing all of the sass, flamboyance and commanding presence that the Marvel trickster is renowned for. And when Tom Hiddleston eventually retires the character, Veal would be more than capable of stepping in and becoming the one and only Loki in the MCU.

With that in mind, it would be great to see him team with some of his fellow young heroes in the MCU and form the Young Avengers. The Kid God of Mischief survived the MCU’s time Void, so surely there is a future for the character.

This writer can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Young Avengers going forward, especially if Loki is involved.
